There have been a number of Batmobiles up for sale on eBay over time including the Batmobile from the 1989 Batman movie (on sale in 2008) and from Batman Returns (on sale earlier this year). People just can’t get enough of the Caped Crusader’s pimped-out ride. But there has never been one quite like this for sale, for a number of reasons. We are talking about a street-legal turbine-powered Batmobile created by Putsch Racing.
There have been a number of news stories about this car in the last couple of days, and we love the national buzz it has gotten. Here at eBay stories we appreciate people who are passionate about their work. Casey Putsch appears to be just that kind of person, as you can see from this interview on Fox News yesterday. Take a look:
The car is pretty impressive, and it is powered by a 365 horsepower Boeing turboshaft engine, which, if nothing else, sounds amazing. The engine originates from the US military and was taken from a Drone Anti-Submarine Helicopter. Take a look at this video for an idea of what it is like to drive the car, and the noise the car makes while revving up for what seems like blast off.
As any muscle car enthusiast knows, a car’s sound is sometimes as important as the way it looks. As the Guide to Muscle Car Engines from carsdirect.com notes, “The sound of your muscle car’s engine lets others know a real American street machine has arrived, and that other drivers should beware lest they fall victim to the power and speed of your vehicle.” We think the Batmobile would scare the living daylights out of people who hear it coming down the road behind them… Beware, evildoers!
But the true beauty of this car lies in the care and dedication in the creation of this one-of-a-kind masterpiece. From the listing:
Completed in 2011, this car was constructed in a professional racing facility alongside Grand Prix, DTM, Indy and Sports Racing cars. Its construction is in a completely different league than both replicas and of course the movie prop cars… Having a perfect reliability record, this car is ready to be enjoyed by an enthusiast who is looking for the ultimate luxury in one-upmanship.
We got in touch with Casey Putsch to find out why he created this turbine-powered Batmobile. His answer is very enlightening:
“I was a kid of the ’80s and we all loved that movie. I especially appreciate the ideal of Batman and naturally the Batmobile is the coolest car that could exist. Unfortunately, while the Batmobile is always portrayed as being turbine-powered, no real car has ever existed. Likely because people know it would take Bruce Wayne’s resources to build it. Not quite, as I have the unique ability to mentally engineer and all the skill sets necessary to complete such a task, I thought this would be a great way to show what I am capable of and naturally it was a very fun project.”
So what is next for Casey? “I am selling it because I wish to create other projects and prototypes,” he said. “The next being a recyclable and fuel-efficient supercar.” We are looking forward to his next creation, and hopefully seeing it for sale here on eBay!
His final words? “Let’s get a reality TV show going!”
Agreed, but what would we call it?

OMG This is Hilarious! 2 thumbs up to this guy. Very creative and yes this is the best designed Batmobile from any of the series. Sad to see this guy sell it oh well. Wish I had the money for it
And how would you insure something like that?
Damn it!
Were´s my piggy bank???……..
Just read the news! … I’m sending MY little Caped Crusader (nephew) an email right away! Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da Da E-L-I !! : )
Sounds like an Airplane? lol… Are you cleared for take off?
Holy Hemmoroids Batman! Where does he get those wonderful toys?
Damn that thing sounds awesome
Wish I had a few billion ! Id buy it !
Just to zOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOm all the way to work in!
Can you dig it ? 300 MPH ? yEA!, boY ~~~~~eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
China ~~~~~~?~~~~~~~~~ Copy it !
If you can !
What a smart use of an iPad lol. Looks amazing! I love how it sounds like an airplane starting its engine for takeoff.
So what happens when it breaks down? Where do you get parts for something like that?! Whoever buys it, don’t crash it!
my Honda insite sounds like that when I start it up. Lol
How much is this thing? and wow i can imagine the stares and probably how many cops would stop me if i had it, i mean how would you keep it under 60 mph for one and two how much fuel would it burn to go to the city and back like a hundred or 2 round trip, and then does it take regular fuel i doubt it! I dont think itd be very economical but as for show WHY NOT! i would love to have it regardless of the reasons why not, lol. Maybe then could i not go to the nuthouse for dressing up and beating up those bullies that uses to chase me around and beat me for thrills back in high school, >POW<
What a wimp-out !
Why not put a real axial turbine in it with 30,000 lbs of thrust and 5 stages of afterburner and make a REAL batmobile …
Perhaps because race car geeks don’t have the aerodynamic and engineering and vehicle dynamics knowledge to actually make a batmobile that goes 0-500 knots in 60 seconds …
Expensive total wimpout …
Waste of time.
