Today we are featuring ten of the highest priced items (over $25K) sold on eBay last week.
#10 – $25,000 – Sometimes items show up on this list that surprise even me. Such is the case with this antique doctor’s Verge Fusee Skeleton Skull table watch from circa 1800:
Creepy, yes, but really cool too. It was apparently used by a doctor as his table clock, although the listing notes the following:
“The skull head can be unscrew from the skeleton body,so it can be wear separately as a pocket watch on its chain! (the chain is composed from many miniature skulls links, and can be removed from the skull when the skull stay on the body).”
Someone just bought the ultimate accessory for this Halloween.
#9 – $25,000 – Today we tend to associate the Swastika symbol with the Nazi era in Germany, but at one point in history, the Swastika symbol was considered ausp8icious, and used in many religions. This antique bronze crowned Sambhogakaya Buddha has a Swastika on its chest, but that didn’t stop it from making our high priced item list.
I am sure it is highly prized and all, but the association is too strong for me, and I don’t think I would buy it if the price were $24,999 less.
#8 - $25,400 – Here is something you don’t run across very often, an antique Pennsylvania Dutch candle box from 1877/8.
Yes, it is a box, that holds candles, or at least it held candles. Presumably it can also hold other things.
#7 – $28,100 – Love football? Love the NY Giants? One fan decided to shell out some serious green for these two Personal Seat Licenses for the New York Giants. The seats are located near the middle of the row on the visitor’s side on the 47-yard line. Note that this is not for season tickets to see any games. It is just for the seats (and parking pass).
#6 – $48,219 – Gold prices have dipped, but that doesn’t mean owning a Pamp Suisse Gold Bar is for just anyone. But one lucky winner decided to play Midas, and can now keep his kilo bar under the mattress.
#5 - $50,000 – Love donuts? Well, here was your chance to buy a Krispy Kreme production line machine. The capacity is good for 270 donuts per hour, which is enough to satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth.
#4 – $60,000 – We love it when business are put up for sale. The idea of starting something new is appealing to the entrepreneur in all of us. Even cooler is when the business up for sale is this Flyboarding Turn Key Business:
The only problem with owning this business is how much you’d want to use the flyboard yourself, over and over again. Ah yes, the perils of fun-capitalism.
#3 – $77,376 – Nothing confirms the phrase “you’re money” like the watch you wear. But if Rolex is not your thing, you’ll want to hang this Gerald Genta Arena Tourbillon men’s watch on your wrist.
What makes it expensive? It is made of platinum. What makes it coveted? It is gorgeous!
#2 - $103,000 – As Tom Cruise said in the movie Risky Business, “Porsche, accept no substitute.” One lucky bidder won this 1992 Porsche 968 Turbo, cherry red with a tan interior. With only 15,000 miles on the odometer, this 11-year-old car is near perfect.
#1 – $239,900 – Cars often make our high-value item list, but this one left us gasping at the final price, almost a quarter of a million dollars of Lamborghini goodness. Today’s #1 item is this 2008 Lamborghini Murcielago 640 Coupe:
Yeah, if I had a quarter of a million, I would definitely buy a *used* car….
