About eight weeks ago, we featured the story A ModJOBs modified motorcycle on eBay Stories, talking about how the modJOBs2 team was going to modify a Yamaha V Star 950 cruiser into a one-of-a-kind custom bagger, chronicling the process in eight weekly webisodes. The team has completed the transformation of the motorcycle, and it is now up for auction to benefit the National Motorcycle Association Safety Fund.
Which brings us to today’s remarkable listing, the newly revealed, one-of-a-kind modJOBS 2012 Yamaha V Star 950 Cruiser:
As you can see, a lot of incredible custom work has been put into this beauty. If you haven’t followed the show from day one, don’t worry: there are links at the bottom of this post to each and every episode. And it would take watching them all to witness all the painstaking work that has gone into making this motorcycle what it is today.
Aside from the final episode where the team reveals the motorcycle, our favorite episode is the one featuring the famous motorcyclist and biker hangout, the Rock Store, where we first meet Last Comic Standing winner (and motorcycle enthusiast) Alonzo Bodden. The Rock Store, located along the famed Mulholland Highway, halfway between Malibu and Calabasas, caters to celebrities and tourists alike. The Rock Store site notes that it wouldn’t be surprising to run into Jay Leno, who comes to show off some of his more interesting vehicles and chat with folks in the parking lot, or even Arnold Schwarzenegger. Here is the episode:
As you can see from the video, it appears to be a friendly gathering spot, and you would certainly fit right in if you bagged the new Yamaha custom motorcycle and showed up there. And what a story you could tell about how it was modified!
Aside from the fact that the motorcycle looks and sounds great, we appreciate some of the innovative safety features in the headlight and the taillights. As you can see from this episode, the newly installed taillights blink when you put on the breaks, increasing your visibility and indicating to the people behind you that the bike is slowing down. We only wish they could include the same kind of feature on cars’ taillights, maybe with increasingly rapid blinking until the car comes to a complete stop. [Editor's note: ModJOBs 3, anyone? I would be happy to volunteer my car to be modded.]
