As a shopper, it is fun to discover new and intriguing products or services that are perfect for you. Anyone who has wandered around a retail store or browsed listings on eBay, and suddenly found the perfect product, knows exactly what we are talking about. The excitement of the serendipitous discovery of a cool product is sometimes what shopping is all about.
But when you are shopping around for services it can be a more difficult to have those “wow!” moments – you rely on friends telling you about the cool new
spa downtown, or the fun dance class you really need to try. And daily deal sites send you a flood of emails that seems to just keep coming and coming, with no end in sight. So, the product managers at eBay came up with the idea of creating a place on eBay for what we like to call Lifestyle Deals
We told you about the launch of Lifestyle Deals last year (here), but we have made a lot of improvements and have added new deal providers. As a reminder, Lifestyle Deals is a recently launched eBay product that aggregates voucher-based deals for the eBay community to be browsed, discovered, and purchased like any other item on eBay. Lifestyle Deals allows eBay shoppers to access local deals and pay for them through the frictionless eBay checkout process online, but the deals are redeemable at businesses nearby. The Lifestyle Deal program is ramping up the number of offers in various different metro areas, as you can see here:
Think of this feature as a new best friend, the kind who loves to gossip about the incredible fencing class her child loves, or the Thai massage and custom cocktails she partook of last weekend. Except your new best friend gives you only the advice you want, and when you want it. So, whether you want to attend a Cake-Pop Decorating Class in New York City or rent a Jet Ski in Miami, eBay Lifestyle Deals has something for (almost) everyone, almost everywhere.
Which brings us to Valentine’s Day, and sending flowers to your loved one. Sure, in an ideal world you would have the time to go to the local florist and pick up a bouquet of sunflowers, hydrangeas, peonies, and dahlias (for example), and put them in a vase for the love of your life to discover. But sometimes even the best of us forget, or maybe you’re far away from home, or maybe you just want a great deal. Luckily, Lifestyle Deals is starting to add national deals that can be redeemed by eBay shoppers regardless of their location.
So, just in time for Valentine’s Day, eBay Lifestyle Deals is offering this special $15 for $30 of Valentine’s Bouquets at 1800Flowers.com:
The listing is pretty straightforward in describing the deal:
“The Offer: Wow Her! Don’t settle for less. This Valentine’s, get $30 for $15 on truly original flowers and gifts from 1800Flowers.com, guaranteed to make her smile like never before. With something to satisfy every taste and budget, make it a rule to go for the wow. (Don’t worry…we won’t tell her!)”
We agree that what makes this cool is the romantic aspect of giving or getting a fresh bouquet of flowers, whether you are a man or a woman.
One final note: in our last post about Lifestyle Deals, we joked about some of the problems with the new site, including the use of tiny pictures in the item description (among other things). We are happy to report that all those issues have been cleared up, and Lifestyle Deals is looking spiffier than ever.
Be sure to bookmark Lifestyle Deals when you are in the mood to find something new, at a great deal. After all, that is what eBay is all about.
