There are guilty pleasures in life. Taking a day off from work to go to the beach. Eating a large Dairy Queen soft serve ice-cream. Driving too fast on a narrow windy road. And watching a TV show other people don’t seem to get. Take the TV show Breaking Bad, for example. Here we find ourselves both repelled and attracted to the main character, Walter White (played by actor Bryan Cranston), who, through circumstances completely in his control, slowly changes from a geeky high-school chemistry teacher to a notorious methamphetamine cook and drug lord.
Throughout the last five seasons, we see this change happen slowly, Arguably the character formerly known as Walt has completed his transformation into the drug lord Heisenberg. With yesterday’s season and series finale completed, and Halloween only about a month away, what better way to celebrate this dark series than by purchasing the ultimate costume, this Breaking Bad, Walter White, Heisenberg Mask signed and worn by Bryan Cranston:
The mask is eerily realistic. Take a look at this video, which shows Bryan Cranston walking the floor of ComicCon, disguised as, well, himself:
The listing describes the mask:
“This mask went on quite an adventure…
It began when Bryan Cranston wore the mask incognito as his character “Walter White” at the 2013 Comic-Con, and walked amongst the unsuspecting masses, revealing his disguise on stage at the 2013 Comic-Con “Breaking Bad” panel to a cheering audience. The event was punctuated when both Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul enthusiastically made out with Walter White’s disembodied head.
The media buzz continued during Bryan Cranston’s “Breaking Bad” talk show circuit, which included The Late Show with David Letterman, Live with Kelly and Michael, and The Colbert Report; and culminated in an outrageous appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where Fallon donned the mask and interviewed Bryan Cranston as Walter White. Later, Rapper and actor, Common, put on the mask as well, saying “This is Walter Black right here.”
After his talk show run, Bryan signed the mask and returned it to the artist, Landon Meier…
Over the last few years, all of Landon’s Hyperflesh masks have been getting plenty of media attention, gaining in popularity and demand along the way. Each is painstakingly handmade, with Landon spending months sculpting a likeness emphasizing an expression that he feels captures the essence of the character.
The Walter White mask is made of ultra-durable, long lasting Dragon Skin© platinum silicone. Landon’s unique pigmenting methods, combined with the translucency of the silicone, makes for a very convincing flesh. All hair is hand punched. This particular mask has been signed by Landon Meier and Bryan Cranston!”
The mask has created quite a buzz on eBay as well, attracting 78 bids (so far), and being “watched” by over 350 people. With the high bid currently at $17,100, you’d need a Heisenberg-type “salary” to afford it. Mind you, we are not advocating you “break bad” – on the contrary, we mean go to acting classes, toot suite!
UPDATE – October 3rd – Another mask is up for sale. You can see it here:
