Here on the eBay stories blog we often run across interesting vehicles for sale. Some are exotic, like this screen-used General Lee (from the Dukes of Hazzard television show), and some are simply unbelievable, like this Bugatti Veyron replica for $80,000. On our weekend posts, where we talk about the high priced items sold over the course of the last week, we often see amazing cars such as Winston Churchill’s Daimler DB 18 coupe or this sudden interest in Ferrari 430s. But today’s remarkable find has to be the most interesting one we’ve come across in a long time.
Today’s find is this 0212 Other Makes ETV, which is subtitled as a “unique one of a kind futuristic exotic with Lamborghini doors and Ferrari style:”
The car is jaw-droppingly stunning, and the seller confirms that the car “receives more pictures taken of it on a daily basis then any Lamborghini or Ferrari I have ever driven.” It certainly caught our attention – we haven’t seen such an interesting use of portholes-as-car-windows since the original 1950s Thunderbird convertibles.
For those of you ready to hop in and drive it around, there is good news: the car is completely street legal. The seller explains:
“I have built this car from scratch, the body is made from fiberglass and carbon with a one inch steel tubular custom made chassis. The craftsmanship under the fiberglass is equal to the exterior looks of this car and it needs to be for the car to stay as nice as it is. This is not a kit car, this is a manufactured car, Where I have had all of the glass made to DOT specs and everything is street legal. The drivetrain in this car is a 2.2 liter 4 cyl chevy motor with a supercharger, so it is pretty fast with 270 HP, and it averages 26mpg. The ride is smooth and solid and reliable. I do not hesitate to drive this car on the interstate at high speed. Due to the shape of the car the faster you go it seems to get more quiet inside.
There is a front and rear mounted camera system both of which show at the same time, The rear is for rear vision and the front is down low so when you pull up to a curb you do not hit it. There are no marks on the front of this car from hitting curbs or anything. The vision in this car is actually very good. The front windshield is 4.6 foot wide by 5 foot tall, with the front windows on the doors also part of your “panoramic” vision. The rear vision is good through the side view mirrors because of the round shape of the car, You can see well- and the rear view camera shows the rest.
I have installed a complete LED color changing lighting system under the car and inside of the vents which create a nice light show in the evenings, There are also dual batteries with an A / B switch so you will not run the batteries dead at a car show or wherever you leave the car lit up. The doors open by wireless remote, and electric buttons inside, as well as with manual handles inside, the front suspension is fully air adjustable, you will not hit speed bumps unless you decide to drive with zero air in the front air suspension. There is an air tank with a on board compressor which operates the lift system of the vehicle.
The small round windows are power operated by switches inside. Here is a very special feature you will not find in many exotics, There is a full back seat in this car, The headroom is minimal, so the rear seating area is perfect for a kid, but not so great for an adult. Ebay would not let me install the year because of the newly assigned vin number. This car does have a clear 2012 Florida Title which indicates the year the car was inspected and titled. The vin number is correct above, the car is titled as ASPT which is “custom assembled” The length of the car for size comparison is longer then a Lamborghini LP640, and the car is wider then a Bugatti veyron.”
The seller notes that he has built over 60 cars in the last 20 years, so it appears this will be a very solid machine.
